D1GP Chicago

Danger Dan of Control Freaks went to Chicago to compete in the third round of the D1 Grand Prix this past weekend. While he did not qualify for ‘the big show’ by just a few spots (he placed 17 out of 44 cars), all he needed was one more wreck or breakdown and he was in… we had our fingers crossed, but in the end it just wasn’t meant to be.
Besides being utterly exhausted the whole day on Saturday, it was a blast to be there. we got sprayed with tire bits and line chalk, and even got covered in barrier juice when a car slid into the water barrier right in front of us. pretty rad!

Also, I would hazard to guess that AT LEAST 50% of the the civic/integra platform cars in the show area were K-swapped… and that’s a very conservative estimate. I think it may be time to step up the honda game a little bit in the St. Louis area.

Solo II

Also like to congratulate Kate on her recent entry into Autocross. Apparently she did really well at the Solo II event on Saturday. I hear she won her class!

Domi and Koopa of Control Freaks (www.cfdrift.com) also competed.

The next SoloII even is Sunday July 26th…. I know that interferes with the Import Alliance plans, but maybe the group can be back in time to play. (GMR wake up early? ahahahaha…. yeah right)

Midnight Madness 7-3

Some footage of Chris’s Drift runs from Midnight Madness on Friday… The last two ‘Aerial’ views from the dragstrip grandstands are my personal favorite videos… I think that with a real video camera and some zoom, it could be a really great spot for shooting drift runs in the new area. Plus, its more accessible than top of the oval track stands.

The course was kinda rough in the back section and caused a few pretty major casualties, and some more minor incidents… hopefully this is worked out soon.

Fartcan

figured I would keep using this to post updates since no one else does…

I has a fartcan. I needed an exhaust to get my car on the road after the RRC (plus… i was sick of the 2″ straight pipe thing) so I now have a $140 ebay exhaust and a $125 OBX high flow catalytic converter (actually cat, not a test pipe). had to “modify” it a little with a hammer because the whole combination is a little short, so the bend over the LCA hit the car. Oh well, should hold me for a few months or a year until I get something that I like better
